Privacy

Short version: we store nothing about you or your searches.

What we collect

Nothing personally identifying. Open Record Scout has no accounts and no user database. Your search terms are used only to query public data sources at the moment you search, and are not logged or retained by us.

How searches work

Searches are executed from your browser. Some sources are queried through a lightweight proxy that exists only to bypass cross-origin restrictions and to keep third-party API keys off the client; it does not log search content. Requests to external sources (e.g. CourtListener, the FBI, the FEC) are subject to those organizations' own privacy practices.

Cookies & storage

Open Record Scout uses your browser's sessionStorage only to remember that you accepted the usage terms for the current session. No tracking or advertising cookies are set.

Third parties

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts and an animation library from a CDN. These providers may receive your IP address as part of normal request delivery. We do not share any search data with them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page.
